"INHABIT" is a creative cooking and reflexive exercise originated in August 2020 during the pandemic in Santiago -Chile, prompting reflection on nourishment during times of confinement and social crisis by salvaging forgotten vegetables from the local greengrocer.
“I started thinking of all the food that was wasted and in all of the potential organic material that was wasted too so I asked myself What if I took my body weight in vegetables that were to be thrown away and invite them to live with me? What if fruits and vegetables became my companions during quarantine? What shapes and flavors would they adopt? How would I access them with mobility restrictions? Would they merely reside in my house, or would I also become part of their world?”
The result of that was that took charge (and bring into home) 60 kg of veggies, create 110 new canned food, which have been a staple in my household since their inception, and preventing the equivalent of 166 kilograms of CO2 from being emitted.
Additionally, this food sustained me during our last lockdown, spanning 35 days from March 27 to April 28, 2021, during which I crafted a new recipe every day and documented it in a journal.
